Her years as the owner and operator of a 31-unitwaterfront resort on East Grand Traverse Bay enabled her to refine her business acumen and attention to detail—skills that now assist her to define her success in real estate.

She is a member of the Women’s Council of REALTORS®. She is also a Certified Military Relocation Professional– trained to assist U.S. service members, veterans, and their families in navigating the VA loan process and military relocations.

Prior to entering real estate, Laura served for 29 years in education, teaching every grade from kindergarten through eighth across Michigan, Florida, Texas, England, Switzerland, and Scotland. She earned her master’s degree Summa Cum Laude in Curriculum and Instruction and received an honorary Fulbright Award for excellence in global education and leadership. As a Fellow of the National Writing Project, she led workshops and seminars statewide, empowering teachers and students through literacy and creativity. She is an esteemed member of Kappa Delta Pi, an International Honor Society in Education, Laureate Chapter, which includes notable figures such as Albert Einstein, Eleanor Roosevelt, Margaret Mead, and Jean Piaget. Laura is an active member of Central United Methodist Church in Traverse City and a passionate advocate for community and global causes. She proudly supports the World Wildlife Fund, the National Audubon Society, the Wounded Warriors Project, the Rainforest Alliance, the Grand Traverse Watershed, and the National Organization for Women. A lifelong writer and creative spirit, Laura is also a published author, poet, and lyricist. Her historical fiction book, The Lesson of the Lark, honors the centennial of the Nineteenth Amendment. She has been featured as an Author Next Door by theNational Writers Series and was a guest speaker for the National Women’s History Museum’s Summer Educators Institute through George Washington University. In partnership with her husband, composer Jeffrey Cobb, Laura has co-created numerous nationally recognized musical works. Their choral composition, The Promise of Peace, was performed at Carnegie Hall in 2017, and The Journey received the Phoenix Boys Choir’s New Works Rising Choral Composition Award in 2023. Their commissioned pieces—Shine, Circle of the Seasons, Lullaby for Sleep, and Life Everlasting—reflect a shared devotion to positivity.
